Sweeping Victory For Rep. Hakeem Jeffries In Primary Elections

Voter turnout was very light in the August 23rd Primary Election, following nine days of Early Voting, where the U.S. House of Representatives and State Senate were both on the ballot.

Incumbent Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (District 8) won the Democratic nomination in the Congressional Primary, grabbing 87% of the vote (19,222 votes) against opponent Queen Johnson who garnered 12.5% of the vote (2,774 votes). Write-in votes totaled 116, or 0.5% of votes. There was no Republican primary for this office.
